Job Description:
Coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as highest advanced-level subject matter expert.
Role and Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision, coordinates, designs, and secures computer databases to store, track, and maintain a large volume of critical business information. Serves as highest advanced-level subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance for professional staff. May also serve in a lead role.
  • The Senior DBA will be responsible for configuration management, performance tuning and administration of mission critical production databases.
  • Senior DBA will perform short and long term database operations planning and analysis. Integrate/collaborate with application development and support teams on various IT projects
IMPACT & INFLUENCE:
  • This position will interact on a consistent basis with: management and staff within assigned units and personnel in Office of Information Technology.
  • The ideal candidate will be a senior specialist able to function independently and understand the importance of database integrity in terms of both efficiency and security.
  • This is a production operational role where proactive measures need to be practiced and applied
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
  • Contributing to the improvement of standard procedures and documentation
  • Providing production database support
  • Providing input on Oracle database architectures and strategies to meet application availability, scalability and performance requirements
  • Working on Change Request Tasks and Incidents to fix or enhance various applications using Oracle Databases
  • Attending and contributing to team and project meetings
  • Participate in rotation for on call support
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with Oracle RAC 11g, 12c and 18c troubleshooting and issue resolution in RAC environment (3+ Years)
  • Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (2+ Years)
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.x
  • Pro-active database management
  • Practical skills in SQL and PL/SQL scripting and tuning
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle internals
  • Extensive experience in performance troubleshooting
  • Structured Root Cause Analysis skills
  • Experience with Oracle streams and other replication technologies
  • Ability to support multiple projects/applications at once
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
